Textile Engineering

Bachelor in Textile Engineering is an undergraduate degree programme that mainly deals with the technology, production, and processes associated with the textile industry. Like other B.Tech courses, the Textile engineering course can also be completed in 4 years.
The four years course is designed to help the students understand the basics of textiles and the processes and technology used in the textile industry for design and manufacturing. Students also learn how to design unique products at a nominal value. Focus is given to the practical concepts throughout the completion of the course.
Textile Engineering is in growing demand due to diverse cultures and traditions around the world and it is one of the most popular disciplines in engineering/technology. “Textile Engineering” is a big research field of technology that deals with all activities of producing textile fabric & yarns which are involved in the process of textile manufacturing. It includes process engineering that spins around the garment, color, and fabric line of industries.
The technology and science in Textile Engineering comprises designing and controlling all aspects of fiber, textile & apparel processes, fiber, clothing products, and machinery. Textile engineers are involved in many aspects of textile manufacturing, from process engineering, R&D, production control, technical sales, quality control, and types of equipment to procedures that create all these fibers, fabrics, and Yarns.

BTech Textile Engineering: Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should have passed in 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board with minimum 55% marks.
The candidate should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Maths and Chemistry subjects.
The candidate should have qualified in any one of the entrance exams held for BE/BTech admissions.

BTech Textile Engineering: Admission Process

The admission process for B.Tech Textile Engineering is mainly done through BTech entrance exams. These exams are conducted on national level like JEE, JEE Advanced etc. and on state level as well like MHT CET, TNEA etc. Few private institutes in India conduct their own entrance exams as well.

  • Registration: Registering for the entrance exam by visiting the website of the exam is the first step to do. Fill the details in the application form and upload documents asked such as photographs, signatures etc.
  • Application fee: Pay the application fee for the exam through the payment mode available. Most widely accepted payment method is bank transfer.
  • Download Admit Card: The admit card will be available after the completion of the above steps. You should download it once available for future reference. The allotted test center will also be mentioned on it.
  • Examination: Appear for the exam at the allotted center and give your best. Utilize time properly and try to score as much as possible.
  • Results: The results will be announced which the student needs to check along with the colleges accepting their score.
  • Counselling: The counselling rounds will be held soon after results are announced where documents will be verified and candidates will be short-listed. The short-listed candidates will be selected and given a seat for the course.
