Mechanical Engineering

Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical is a four- year undergraduate program. Mechanical Engineering is one of the specialities of engineering which deals with machines; their manufacturing, design, and operation. Mechanical Engineers play a significant part in different industries such as energy conversion, biotechnology, computers, electronics, aerospace, and countless others.
A mechanical engineer’s job is to see a product through the entire development process, from concept to market. This necessitates them having a thorough understanding of the environment in which any product, system, or its components will operate, and then designing them accordingly, taking into account factors such as durability, aesthetics, and functionality.
Mechanical engineering is a field that deals with the application of physics and science concepts to mechanical equipment design, manufacturing, and maintenance. The goal of the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme is to give students with education and training so that they can work as professionals in industries and manufacturing organisations in the future.
Students will learn how to apply strategies and technology in the industry during this course. Many institutes in India offer it, and the state’s Technical Education Department oversees it.

Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Mechanical Engineering

To pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering, aspirants must fulfil certain eligibility criteria as specified by the institute, some of the important points of which include:

  • Aspirants must have cleared their Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as the core subjects;
  • Aspirants must have acquired a minimum of 50% in their Class 12 Examination;
  • Candidates with a three-year Diploma in a related field from a recognized institute are eligible to apply for Lateral Entry.

Even at the postgraduate level, the candidates must fulfill certain eligibility criteria to pursue studies in Mechanical Engineering. While the criteria may differ slightly according to the institute, some of the common requisites include:

  • Candidates must have completed a B.E. or B.Tech degree course in Mechanical, Automobile, Manufacturing, Production, Mechatronics or other related fields of engineering;
  • Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 55% in the final qualifying exam.
