Diploma in Drawing and Painting

A Diploma in Drawing and Painting is a Drawing and Painting programme at the Diploma level. Adding texture to a painting or drawing, whether realistic or abstract, is an important part of the process. Textures come in a variety of shapes and sizes in art and design. The smooth surface of a metal sculpture or the prickly surface of a cactus are examples of actual or real textures that may be touched. The texture of a material can quickly identify it: glass is smooth and fluid, but sand is rough and granular. Artists use genuine texture to provide a tactile sense to three-dimensional works. The course highlights the visual textures that can be created to look like real textures, two-dimensional work of art; texture gives a visual sense of how an object would feel in real life.
