Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

The Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) is a three-year undergraduate degree that prepares students for a professional career in social welfare by providing them with information and skills. In most universities and colleges, the course is divided into six semesters.
BSW enables students to apply their knowledge and intentionally implement these techniques in the real world to assist those who are affected by poverty, violence, mental illness, homelessness, and diseases such as AIDS and cancer. BSW is a full-time and part-time position (distance education programme and correspondence).
The training is designed for people who want to make a difference in society by assisting the downtrodden and underprivileged. BSW assists applicants in developing the necessary abilities for addressing a variety of economic and social concerns.

BSW Eligibility

  • The aspirants must pass (10+2) Secondary and Higher Secondary from a recognized board in humanities and science background.
  • Candidates belonging to the SC/ST require at least 40% marks at the qualifying examinations. This percentage may vary depending upon the University.
  • Most admissions take place through the merit system and thus a good mark in the HS is necessary to study in a good college.

BSW Admission Process

The admission is based on the cut-off lists issued by the university or college. The admission process is entirely merit-based. Some universities like Osmania University also conduct an Aptitude Test.

Direct Admissions

  • Direct admission through management quota is also available in universities such as Amity University. Government colleges do not have a management quota so direct admission is not available.
