Bachelor of Arts in multiple disciplines (BA)

A bachelor’s degree, often known as a bachelor’s degree in arts or a bachelor’s degree in arts (general), is an undergraduate degree. It is a large subset of culture that encompasses a variety of expressive fields. Depending on one’s preference, the course can be pursued as a full-time graduate course or a part-time graduate degree, i.e. through correspondence or distance education. B.A. is sometimes abbreviated as B.A. or B.A. Pass Course. Apart from 1-2 compulsory subjects, it is generic in the sense that it is not subject specific and one can choose from a variety of subject combinations. These combinations vary from institute to institute. These subjects can from the Liberal Arts, the Sciences, or both. Normally, a candidate needs to study 5-6 Subjects 1–2 Compulsory and 3 Electives in 6 Semesters.
Students in the arts can major and minor in English, French, or any other linguistics course, as well as Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, History, Religious Studies, and other subjects. The course lasts three years, however in certain countries, such as Canada, Japan, the Russian Federation, Scotland, and the United States, it lasts four years. The course lasts three years in India and other nations such as the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, and others. Candidates who are unable to pass it in three years may be able to pass it in a different number of years, depending on the educational policy.

B.A. Eligibility

  • Aspiring students should have passed an H.S.C. examination (10+2) from a recognized Education Board with Science, Arts or Commerce stream can opt for Bachelor of Arts.
  • Generally, 50% of marks are required but the percentage may vary from state to state and from institute to institute.

Bachelor of Arts Admissions

  • Students can pursue diploma or degree courses of BA after completion of Class 12th from recognized board and institution. Students will have to appear for an aptitude test which is conducted by various universities. Admission takes place through one of the following:
  • Entrance Exams: Admission also takes place through entrance exams like DUET, BHU UET, IPU CET, JSAT, TISS NET, etc. Scores in these entrance exams and/or Class XII percentages are considered during the B.A admission.
  • Merit: Some colleges and universities generate their own cut off list, and if candidates have fulfilled that criteria then eligible to take admission in that programme. Cut off List in best colleges like Hindu College, Miranda House, Gargi College, etc. goes up to 98% for BA courses.
