B.Sc. Home Science

A bachelor’s degree in home science is a professional course in the field of home science for undergraduates. Home Science is the study of numerous sciences that deal with nutrition, health, and growth, as well as science that deals with the environment and surroundings. Food Science, Fundamentals of Resource Management, Foundations of Human Development, Introduction to Fabric and Apparel Science, Foundations of Food and Nutrition, and other significant topics in Home Science are covered in the degree programme.In other words, B.Sc. (Home Science) is a degree programme that covers chemistry, physics, physiology, biology, hygiene, economics, rural development, child development, sociology and family relations, community living, art, food, nutrition, clothing, textiles, and home management, among other subjects. The course lasts three years, and the syllabus is divided into six semesters.

B.Sc. Home Science Eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed a B.Sc. (Home Science) degree as well as a qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are required subjects at the 10+2 level by certain reputable colleges and institutes.
  • Some of the most prestigious schools and universities need a minimum of 50% in 10+2 as a qualifying condition for admission to this degree programme, and they also hold an entrance exam for admission to their B.Sc. (Home Science) degree programme. The final merit, i.e. the total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exam, is used to determine admission to these colleges’ degree programmes.
