ANM or Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery

Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery, or ANM, is a two-year diploma programme in nursing. After finishing their class 12 test with a Science or Arts course, interested applicants can apply for an ANM diploma. The two-year programme includes a six-month internship requirement. The ANM diploma is the most fundamental diploma degree that may be pursued as a first step toward a profession in nursing. Graduates of ANM diploma can start their career by working with community health centres in urban or rural locations.
Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) courses are mostly focused on the health-care industry. Candidates who enroll in ANM courses will learn about what health care for people entails, as well as how to set up an operating room, care for various equipment, keep records, and deliver timely medication to patients.

ANM Nursing Eligibility Criteria

  • The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years on or before 31st December in the year in which admission is sought
  • The maximum age of the candidate should not exceed more than 35 years
  • The candidate should have passed class 12 examination having Arts or Commerce stream (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, and Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Science or Health care Science – Vocational stream from a recognized Board.
  • The candidate should be medically fit and might have to provide a certificate declaring the same
  • Candidates who should have pass class 12 from the Arts or Science stream conducted by the National Institute of Open School are also eligible
  • The candidate should be admitted once a year

ANM Admissions Process

  • Aspirants seeking admission for the ANM program, will be admitted based on their performance in the common entrance exams. Direct admission facilities are also available in some colleges.
  • Direct admission process is seen in most of the ANM colleges in India.
  • Here, candidates will be picked up based on their scores that they have acquired in the intermediate exams.
  • If their scores are better than the cut off marks, released by the college, they will be eligible to get permission for admission.
  • Also, there is merit-based admission in some of the colleges, which are done via conducting entrance exams.
  • There also, a specific cut off marks will be given, where the candidates need to score more than that, and be eligible to get admission.
